Day 2 of the 2014 Outdoor Education Trip
Breakfast: Chris, a Happy Hollow employee gives the campers directions on how to be a hopper. Mr. Allen has a volunteer get inside a gargage bag leaving her head out. The volunteer holds one end of a shop vac inside the bag as he turns it on.  This sucks up the air inside the bag making the bag shrink around her. Air Pressure: Mr. Allen also shows them how a two liter of water will empty quicker if their is a hole in the bottle. Air Pressure: All work at the air pressure station comes to a halt when this momma robin flies into feed her babies. Air Pressure: One of the young robins. Air Pressure: Air Pressure: The campers put small marshmellows in a tube and then pump the tube adding pressure and they determine what the air pressure did to the marshmellows. Air Pressure: Air Pressure: At station 8 Kinetic and Potential Energy the campers learn to recognize that objects have differnt types of energy. Kinetic and Potential Energy: Campers rolled different sized marbles down an incline plane and into a container.  They then measure the distance the container moves. Kinetic and Potential Energy: Kinetic and Potential Energy: Kinetic and Potential Energy: Kinetic and Potential Energy: Campers also test Sir Isaac Newton's First Law of Motion by trying to get the egg into a glass of water without knocking the glass over. Kinetic and Potential Energy: Kinetic and Potential Energy: Kinetic and Potential Energy: Kinetic and Potential Energy: Kinetic and Potential Energy: Mr. Zink was able to get three eggs to fall into three seperate glasses of water. The Obstacle Course: This is a place where team work is essential. The Obstacle Course: It is also the place where the campers compare the mean, median, and mode for a set of data. The Obstacle Course: Campers must work together to have all individuals sitting on the log holding their legs up for short amount of time. The Obstacle Course: This could happen if the campers don't have a plan. The Obstacle Course: Mrs. Burgher explains that the campers must all swing across the rope to the other side. The Obstacle Course: They catch that they have to figure out how to get the rope and also how the last person can make it across by themselves. The Obstacle Course: The Platform requires a plan and lots of teamwork! The first group to have all of their members across would win. The Obstacle Course The Obstacle Course The Obstacle Course Lunch: The line outside the dining hall grows as the hungry campers wait to enter. Lunch: They are very happy when it is time to go in. Food Chain: Station 9 is where the campers learn about the food chain and nesting of fish. Food Chain: Mr. Snyder shows the campers some of the bluegill nests. Rockets: Some of the campers made rockets in Mr. Allen's class and were given the opportunity to launch them here at camp. Rockets Winner: Zoe Akers with a distance of 31 feet 9 inches. Rockets: Brenden, Jason, and Collin got second place with a distance of 47 feet,7 inches. Rockets: Gabriella, Tamara,and Tyler got third place with a distance 54 feet 3 inches. Rockets: Symphonie, Sierra, and Jazmine Rockets: Shayla, Tyler, and Trinity Rockets: Deaven, Kaitlyn, and Tristan Rockets: Summer, Madison, and Bailey Rockets: Ruby, Kerstin, and Summer Rockets: Emma, Rosemary, and Shelby Rockets: Mackie and Derek Rockets: Madalyn, Brooklyn, and Braden Rockets: Devin, Sydney, and Chloe Rockets: Mr. Walker, Mr. Zink, and Mr. Rawert threw balls at a rocket that had gotten stuck in the tree.
