  NEWSLETTER

    March,2002

Dear Families,

The enthusiasm for reading and writing is everywhere in NHE!  The children are reading so many books for Reading Counts, it is hard to keep up with them.  The books I have seen them reading and writing this month have been fabulous!  I am so proud of all of them.

I hope the children shared the wonderful time they spent with author Doreen Rappaport.  She spent two days in our building meeting with the children and sharing her experiences as a writer.  She was very impressed with the children.  They were also very impressed with her.  Thanks to the PTO for sharing expenses for Ms Rappaport.

We rounded that week off with our Dr. Seuss Read Across America Read-In.  it was a huge success!  Mrs. Geswein did an outstanding job putting it all together!  It was wonderful to see all the adults reading with the children.  Thanks to everyone for volunteering your time.  We appreciate the support.

Remember, parent conferences are march 14.  Students will be dismissed at 10:45.  Kindergarten conferences are March 14 & 15.  Our science fair projects will be on display in the gym all evening.  Be sure to stop in and look at all the terrific projects.

     Have a great Spring Break!

Sheryl Burns,
Principal

KIDS HELPING KIDS READATHON

Students are already beginning to turn in pledges for Kids Helping Kids.  If your family is participating, please try to finish in the next few weeks or at least before spring break.

If you haven’t started yet, it is still not too late. This is a worthwhile community service we do each year.

We hope families are enjoying  reading the books together.
