RULES for Projects
Grades 1-5

  1. ONE PERSON per project.
  2. NO live animals; however, animals may be observed in their natural environment.
  3. NO human body parts should be displayed. Exceptions are teeth, hair, and nails.
  4. Parents may suggest ideas and give guidance but may NOT put projects together.
  5. NO commercial kits may be used.
  6. $10.00 maximum for supplies. A list of expenses should be with the exhibit.
  7. Entry forms need to be turned in by  Tue, Apr. 14, 2009.                .
  8. Students must be able to explain their projects if asked by the judge or teacher.
  9. Exhibits must be limited in size. Maximum size: 21 inches front to back and 36 inches side to side. Table display only.
  10. Construction must be durable; moving parts must be firmly attached and safe. Item to be displayed in front of backboard should be adequately secured (i.e. batteries, wire, switch and motor—secure to a piece of plywood and placed in front of backboard.
  11. NO electrical projects. Battery only.
  12. NO dangerous chemicals, controlled substances, open flames or explosives.
  13. Students should avoid doing experiments involving bacteria cultures.
  14. Expensive or fragile items should not be displayed. Valuable items essential to the project should be simulated or photographed. The staff will not be held responsible for lost or damaged equipment or displays.
  15. Exhibitor’s name should not appear anywhere on the display or report. A number will identify all exhibits.
  16. Any method of display is acceptable. For instance: machines, experiments, clay models, paper mache models, pictures, cut-aways, cross sections, posters, dioramas, panoramic models of any type, solid displays, and charts.
  17. Carefully pack all materials when transporting to and from the fair. PLEASE BRING IN PROJECTS ON Wednesday, April 22, 2009 by NOON.  Projects will be judged the next morning.  Please do NOT bring projects in on the day of judging!
  18. At the end of the Science Fair, all students MUST pick up their exhibits and remove them from the gym during SHOW OFF NIGHT:  Thursday, April 23, 2009.      .
