NH Virtual Learners Meal Sign-Up

Our recent grant allowed us to give free breakfast and lunch to all NH students.  This food distribution will allow us to extend that opportunity to our NH Virtual students.

North Harrison Schools Food Distribution for virtual students will take place on Monday, September 28, from 5:00p.m. to 6:00p.m at North Harrison High School.  This is ONLY for virtual students.  Students attending school in person are already receiving free meals.  Please DO NOT complete this form unless your student(s) are attending virtually.

This is FREE for all students of North Harrison and Morgan Schools. You must complete this form in order to receive these meals.  Please fill out the form by 11:00a.m. on Thursday to sign up for food pick up Monday, so that we can plan appropriately for the week. This form is sent Tuesday of each week for meal pick-up for the following Monday.   Please sign up by 11:00a.m. on Thursday.

The Food Distribution is at North Harrison High School this time. You will need to go to the back student parking lot and enter through the door numbered H10. We will be set up in the hallway.  Masks are required to enter the building.   We will have 5 breakfast and 5 lunches available for each student you have signed up.

Please Note: This form is for one student.  You will need to fill out a separate form for each student you have enrolled as a virtual learner.  You may have to cut and paste the link.

Free Tutoring from Retired Teachers

Free Tutoring Information:

Indiana’s Call and Learn free tutoring service for K-12 students is once again being offered by retired teachers, courtesy of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association.

The service begins Tuesday, and no internet is needed. Retired teachers will assist Indiana's K-12 students with language arts, math, science, and social studies.

Students can call 1-877-45-STUDY toll-free [1-877-457-8839], 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays through Thursdays.

Students in grades K-6 connect with a general education teacher. Grades 7-12 connect with a teacher with expertise on a specific subjects: math, science, language arts and social studies.

All calls are anonymous and recorded; student privacy is guaranteed and no student data is gathered.

There is no limit to how long calls last or the number of times a person can call.

NHCS to Provide Free Meals to All Students in Grades Pre-K-12

Dear Parent or Guardian,

We have some exciting news to share with you on this beautiful sunny day. In response to the Covid-19 pandemic. USDA has issued waivers for public schools across the country to provide free meals to all students.  Beginning today, September 14, 2020 until December 31, 2020 (or until funding runs out) all students in grades Pre-K thru 12 will receive a free reimbursable breakfast and lunch while at school.  A reimbursable lunch consists of 3-5 meal components (meat or meat alternative, grain/bread, fruit, vegetable and milk), one of which must be a fruit or vegetable.  A reimbursable breakfast includes at least three of the offered items, including one fruit or vegetable.

Students will still be able to purchase a la carte items as well as extra food at regular pricing.   Student meal money will remain in their account for use in January after the waiver expires.

We still recommend that all families, who believe they may be eligible, fill out a free and reduced application if you have not already done so.  This will allow you to receive meals based on your eligibility when the program ends in December.  Families who received a letter at the beginning of the school year stating they are directly certified will not need to do anything.

A survey will come out later this week to see if our virtual learners would like to have free meals as well.  Be watching your emails for this important survey, and please respond so that we can make the best decision for all our students.

We are very excited to bring this opportunity to our North Harrison families to help provide financial relief during this extraordinary time!  We encourage you to take advantage of it.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
