NH Update from Dr. Richards - November 23

Parents, Guardians, Students, and Staff,

We have made the decision to alter the schedule and transition to a hybrid model for students in grades 7 through 12.  This will start Monday, November 30th and last until Christmas Break.   Students in Kindergarten through sixth grade will attend every day.

Students with last names ending in A – K will attend school on Monday and Thursday.  Students with names ending in L – Z will attend on Tuesday and Friday.  Wednesday will be an eLearning day for grades 7-12.   Blended families with last names in both categories will attend with A-K.

eLearning Meal Sign-Up for All Students

Due to our switch to eLearning, North Harrison Schools Food Service Department  will offer free  breakfast and lunch take home meals for the two days that students will be eLearning next week. Distribution will be  from 5:00pm to 6:30pm on Monday, November 23, 2020. We will just be offering meals for 2 days because of Thanksgiving break.  This is for any and all NH students.

Notice: This form is for one student.  You will need to fill out a separate form for each student you have enrolled at North Harrison.

You must complete this form in order to receive these meals. Please fill out the form by 11:00 AM Thursday  to sign up for meal pick up on Monday, November 23, 2020 so that we will know how many meals to prepare.

Please do not sign up if you are not able to pick up these meals.  If you or anyone in your household are experiencing COVID symptoms or have tested positive, please arrange to have someone else pick up your meals.

The Food Distribution is at North Harrison High School. You will need to go to the back student parking lot by the gym and enter through the door numbered H10. We will be set up in the hallway.  Masks are required to enter the building.  Please maintain the required 6-foot social distancing.

NH Update from Dr. Richards - November 13, 2020 School Closure and eLearning

Parents, Guardians, Students, and Staff:

North Harrison Community Schools will shift to Non Traditional and eLearning Instruction starting Monday, November 16th through Tuesday, November 24th.  We then have our Thanksgiving break.  Students will return to our buildings on Monday, November 30th.  This was not a decision we had planned to make and recognize the disruption this will cause to families.  We have a large number of students, teachers, and support staff on quarantine at this time.  This does not mean that they are all positive for Covid but rather have had to quarantine due to potential exposures.  We simply do not have enough personnel to operate in a safe manner.   The stark reality is that our schools are a reflection of our community, and the number of cases in our state, region, and county have increased dramatically.

We do plan to distribute meals for those who wish to receive them.  We will be sending further information on food distribution later today or over the weekend.   We also will have the food giveaway with Community Services on Wednesday night at NHMS from 5:30pm to 6:30pm for everyone.   Extra curricular activities will continue so long as they can be done in a safe manner and follow all guidelines.  Please know that we disinfect and fog all of our buildings every night.  However, this will allow us to go even deeper in the cleaning process as a further precaution for when we return.

Stay safe and hug your kids,

Sincerely,
Dr. Lance Richards

Message from your School Nurse - November 13, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I would like to thank our school community for their patience and understanding during these unprecedented times. I am sure all the information that is out there regarding COVID 19 is overwhelming.  Life as we know it has changed for the entire world but we will get through it by working together.  Let's try to embrace this challenge to bring good and positivity into the world.  Our children will remember this time in history and I hope that they will be proud of how we responded.

During this e-learning period I would like to ask you to PLEASE report any exposures or positive COVID 19 cases that have a direct impact on our students, parents, or staff members.  There may still be a need to contact trace or students may have to be quarantined after Thanksgiving break.  I will be available each day to answer any questions you may have.
