It was Hawaiian/ tourist day at NHE and a great way to end Miss Winn's around the world unit. The 5th graders "traveled" around the world and did context clue challenges, while learning new things about each place they visited.

On Tuesday, NHE 4th graders traveled to Angel Mounds State Historic Site in Evansville, IN for a special extended day field trip! What started out as a very rainy morning, turned out to be a beautiful day to learn about the Mississippian Native American culture.

On Wednesday, NHE 4th graders participated in Game Day! They brought games from home to share with friends and we had a fantastic day together playing them all!

2nd grade at NHES worked in small groups to design and build bridges! They were not only architects, but engineers! They had to develop a “blue print” and build from their ideas.

Last Week the NHE 4th graders attended a field trip to downtown Corydon. They explored Governor Hendricks' House, the Capitol Building, and Zimmerman's Art Glass. They enjoyed lunch and some play time at Rice Island Park. Then they finished off the field trip with a bus tour of some other areas around Corydon, including the Leora Brown School, Cedar Hill Cemetery, the Constitution Elm, and Big Indian Creek. What a gorgeous day spent in our small town of Corydon!

North Harrison Elementary has a NEW Playground! It seemed like it took forever to complete, but the playground is finished and it is awesome!

2nd grade at NHES worked in small teams to design and build an egg protector, using only straws and tape! For Round 1 trials, SRO Hutchinson was our official tester, dropping them off his truck! Many made it to round 2 testing!

NHE 5th graders enjoyed a beautiful day participating in our annual cave crawl. This was the first cave trip we have had since covid. It was great to keep this NHE 5th grade tradition going!!!!

Mr. Johnson's 2nd grade class participated in a Build a Bridge challenge. Students designed, built, and tested their bridges using various items in the classroom. One bridge supported 13 Wonder's reading books!

North Harrison is going forward with STEM Certification. Some of the students in Mrs. Schulz's Class earned a Purdue STEM Degree. They completed ten online lessons and passed the tests for each one to earn their Purdue STEM Degree. The lessons presented a wide variety of topics such as: The Greenhouse Effect, what can be learned from fossils, animal adaptations and more. These students used their free time to work on their STEM Degrees. They are very proud to have finished the course!

Many elementary archery students shot at Nationals today. Mrs. Benson and Mrs. Crosier teamed up to create supportive banners to welcome them back to NHE tomorrow. Way to go NHE Archers!

Mr. Johnson's 2nd Grade class finished their mythology week with a performance of "The Contest of Athena and Poseidon." The acting was top notch!

Ms. Hollen’s class has been having their own little Derby right in their own classroom in celebration of the upcoming Kentucky Derby. They have read articles together to learn about what it is, how horses are eligible to be in it, and the tedious naming process that goes into naming a Derby horse.
They made their own Derby hats and held their very own Derby races until the champion horse was determined.🐎🌹🏆

NHES 4th graders completed the Be the Majority course through Our Place. Today, they received their t-shirts from Mr. Vance!
Our hope is that this group of students will “be the majority” when making good decisions regarding future healthy choices for their bodies!

North Harrison will be hosting a Unified Track Meet against Corydon Central and Perry Central tomorrow, May 3, starting at 6:00 PM. This is an amazing event and we hope to have a large crowd on hand to cheer on the student athletes! 💙🖤💚
